Tom Sculthorpe

Company Owner

Bringing over two decades of electronics engineering experience within the medical and scientific fields. My journey began as a Medical Field Service Engineer at Imotek International, where I received comprehensive training on a diverse range of equipment, from thermal printers to advanced ultrasound and MRI scanners. After seven successful years, I joined Applied Biosystems, now Sciex, as a Field Service Engineer, where I honed my expertise on various product lines, including legacy and Blueline systems, Voyager MALDI-TOF, Peak Scientific gas generators, and Shimadzu LC systems. My dedication and growth led to my promotion to Senior Field Service Engineer, overseeing critical UKIE escalations and fostering resolutions through collaboration with specialists.

Subsequently, I transitioned to an in-house engineer role at LGC in Fordham, where I implemented cost-saving strategies for large equipment maintenance. My achievements included establishing an Instrument Support Team responsible for in-house servicing of equipment such as Sciex Triple Quads and Qtraps, Waters Acquity's, Agilent 1100/1200's, and GCMS systems. Recognized for my contributions, I was promoted to 'Instrument Support Manager,' overseeing annual contract renewals, engaging in sponsor audits, and gaining expertise in ISO, GLP, and GMP regulations. In 2018, drawing upon this wealth of experience, I founded Thorpe Scientific with the mission to share my extensive knowledge and expertise with new clients
